• Only containers of 100mls or less of  liquids, gels, pastes, lotions and cosmetics may be brought through the passenger security screening points at all EU Airports.

• These items MUST be presented at the passenger security screening point in a transparent re-sealable bag of no more than one litre capacity, 20cm x 20cm.

• The rules apply to liquids such as water and other beverages, aerosol cans and toiletries such as toothpaste, shaving cream, hair gel, lip-gloss and creams.

• 100 mls is about the size of a reasonably large  bottle of perfume.

• Pack what you can in your checked- in luggage and just carry essential supplies in your hand luggage.

• In some airports it may be necessary to remove your belt and shoes so wear your Sunday socks, slip-on shoes and a pair of trousers that will not fall down.

Surveillance and Security are Critical

 Lighting. Install bright interior and exterior lighting to make all openings visible from both the outside and the inside of the premises.

Locks and Safes. Purchase good quality door locks and use them.

Grilles and shutters help delay entry.

Safes. Use a graded money safe, bolted to the floor.

CCTV systems should be serviced on a regular basis and recordings checked every day to ensure that the system is working correctly. Staff should also be made aware that you check the system daily as this helps in the smooth running of the business.

Access Control. Know who has a key or code and restrict access to the front door. Rekey locks and safes if employees move on. Rekey locks or change keypad codes annually if you have high turnover of staff. Consider an access control system rather than keys.

Burglar Alarm. Install a good quality alarm system fitted to the latest standards. Generally business premises must be monitored by a monitoring service to comply with commercial insurance policies.

Windows. Consider heavy duty or unbreakable glass in accessible areas particularly if you have high value items in window displays.

Layout. Keep areas around the premises clean to aid visibility and help minimise personal injury claims. Display your most valuable articles near the till or in the centre of the premises to force thieves to take the longest possible escape route. Keep merchandise displays organized to allow maximum visibility throughout the premises.

Check your premises thoroughly ie. Changing rooms and toilets before you lock up. You don’t need an unwanted visitor staying inside your premises after locking up. info@besafeireland.com
